Bengaluru's rise as the Silicon Valley of India, its ideal weather, parks, gardens and its vibrant culture has attracted millions of students, professionals and families from all over the world over the last few decades. This rapid population boom has far exceeded the city's environmental capacity and pace of planning to support the rate of urbanization today. The result? Bangalore's positive reputation is overridden by its mega challenges - the severe water crisis, deforestation, waste management, traffic, resource depletion, and overall loss of quality of life.
B.PAC's B.GREEN program is focused on advancing environmental sustainability, socio-economic upliftment, climate resilience and quality of life in Bengaluru. We convene and collaborate with experts and civic leaders across the city and organize grassroots action through our B.CLIP leaders and community partners. Our programs and projects are aligned with city-level, state-level, national and international sustainable development priorities. Learn more and join us below!
A list of the various initiatives under the B.GREEN program
AIR
Clean air is critical to public health and the wellbeing of Bengalureans. This program is focused on implementing air quality improvement solutions in the city through collaboration.
WATER
Bengaluru is undergoing a water crisis that is projected to quickly get worse. Securing our city's water supply is a top priority for B.GREEN. This means developing a roadmap to net-zero water infrastructure in Bengaluru through collaboration, education and advocacy.
LANDUSE & GREEN SPACE
Urban trees are the most inexpensive and effective solution to a multitude of urban issues, but Bengaluru has continued to see dwindling green cover over the years. This program calls for a bold, comprehensive and collaborative city-level vision to rethink a strategy to re-green the city.
ENERGY & CLIMATE
This program seeks to address one of the greatest existential issues on the planet - climate change, and what it means to Bengaluru in terms of consequences and solutions.
WASTE & CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Waste management is one of the top issues on the minds of citizens in Bengaluru today. This program engages citizens, students, government and the private sector to take steps towards better waste management practices and a circular economy.
PUBLIC SPACES
All Bengalureans deserve public spaces that are safe, accessible, sustainable, clean and green. Through various collaborators, this program seeks to transform underutilized, unsafe or unhealthy places in the city into beautiful and multifunctional spaces for all the citizens.
