B.SAFE CONSTITUENCY

Women’s safety is imperative to make strides towards women’s empowerment. B.SAFE Constituency is a unique initiative to bring different stakeholders, community and domain experts on a common platform and facilitate a safer assembly constituency for women through an integrated set of programs like public place audits, community awareness, recommended action plans and sustained advocacy. B.SAFE Constituency initiative is implemented ward wise and is led by a band of B.SAFE Ambassadors. The Program has been supported by CGI, one of the largest global Canadian IT and business consulting services firm as part of their CSR initiative.

B.SAFE Constituency program has been successfully implemented in Mahadevapura and Malleshwaram Assembly Constituency covering 15 municipal wards and is currently being implemented at Dasarahalli and Hebbal Assembly Constituencies covering 20 municipal wards.

Action Plan

Know More

The action plan for a safer assembly constituency is prepared by the efforts of public place safety audits, conducted by B.SAFE Ambassadors & volunteers. The detailed analysis was carried out on raw data collected at different categories of public places.

This document lays out steps that various departments must take to both make public places safer and enhance the perception of safety. We believe this will help make public places safer, accessible and inclusive for all.

We urge citizens, residents, ward committee and concerned stakeholders to leverage the document to make Namma Bengaluru safer.

Every community has at least one woman leader with passion and intention to help other disadvantaged women. But the woman leaders lack knowledge and necessary framework. The program will strive to identify and train woman leaders to be B.SAFE Ambassadors. These select leaders will be empowered with intensive training and access to required resources such as police officials, counselling centre, legal, schemes and loans required to make their neighbourhood safe and progressive.

Awareness on safety, law and resources are essential to create safe constituency. Hence, B.SAFE Ambassadors shall lead massive awareness campaigns to engage three crucial groups - college students, women of local community and drivers of public transport (Cabs and auto) – to ensure that they have sufficient knowledge and access to resources to make the constituency safer.

B.SAFE College

An initiative to sensitise college students on gender related issues. The gender sensitisation workshop helps examine students’ personal attitude and equips them with critical thinking tools.
