A call to celebrate Eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi

Bengaluru, August 31, 2016: Bangalore Political Action Committee(B.PAC) in association with Youth for Seva(YFS) and Unnathi Women Welfare Association organised a workshop teaching participants to make eco-friendly Ganesha Idols.

The workshop, which saw the participation of more than 80 women and youths from the city, taught the participants to make eco friendly Ganesha idols for the festival.  This initiative was spearheaded by, B.CLIP Civic Leader, Jyothi P Choudary from Govindarajanagara Ward in Vijaya nagar.

Vaishak Simha from Youth for Seva demonstrated and guided the participants on how to make Ganesha idols from clay. The elected corporators to BBMP, Umesh Shetty & Shilpa Sridhar took part in the workshop and appreciated the initiative and extended support to the program.

Speaking during the workshop, one of the organisers Jyothi said,  “In the recent past citizens are using Plaster of Paris & colored idols. This has hampered the water bodies and is hazardous. The workshop is intended to move away from the existing setup and calls for a pledge to celebrate the festival responsibly.” Those who attended the workshop appreciated the initiative and took a pledge to celebrate festival in a responsible manner.
