Collaborating for Clean-up Drives for a Better Bengaluru

Introduction

Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India, is no stranger to rapid urbanisation and population growth which have outpaced the city’s environmental capacity and planning, leading to critical challenges—water scarcity, deforestation, waste mismanagement, traffic congestion, resource depletion, and a declining quality of life. Among these, waste management and the cleanliness of public spaces remain major concerns.

Transforming Bengaluru’s Public Spaces

Through our B.GREEN program, we collaborate with experts, civic leaders, and community partners to drive grassroots action, including clean-up drives. Our mission is twofold—advocating for better infrastructure and services while actively reclaiming public spaces. We believe every citizen deserves safe, clean, accessible, and sustainable spaces. By fostering strategic partnerships, we revitalise underutilised, unsafe, or polluted areas, transforming them into vibrant, multifunctional spaces for the community.

Deepavali Cleanup Drive, 2025
Collaboration with Greater Bengaluru Authority

Every year, Bengaluru generates a large amount of waste during the Deepavali festive season — from firecracker debris to organic and decorative materials. The aftermath often leaves the city’s streets cluttered, posing a serious challenge to its waste management systems.

To address this, the Deepavali Cleanup Drive 2025 was jointly organised by the B.PAC and the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). Conducted from October 15th to 20th, 2025, the campaign aimed to restore the city’s pre- and post-festival shine through collective civic action.

With the support of 150+ civic leaders, 1,000+ pourakarmikas, and hundreds of citizen volunteers, the drive successfully cleared nearly 170 tons of festival waste from 40 key locations across Bengaluru. Streets, parks, and public spaces were cleaned and rejuvenated, reaffirming the spirit of community-driven sustainability. By encouraging citizens to participate, B.PAC and GBA promoted awareness of sustainable practices, waste segregation, and the importance of civic responsibility during festive seasons.

Collaboration with Toyota Tsusho Insurance Broker India Pvt. Ltd.(TTIBI)

For a clean-up drive at Bal Bhavan, Shivaji Nagar, on November 23, 2024, we partnered with Toyota Tsusho Insurance Broker India Pvt. Ltd. (TTIBI). The event was inaugurated by Shri. Rizwan Arshad, MLA, alongside TTIBI’s top management - Mr. Takayuki Ueda, MD & CEO, Mr. K. R. Subramanian, Deputy MD, and Mr. R. Kannan, Head-Corporate Governance. The employees of TTIBI and their families, along with B.PAC volunteers, actively participated, collecting 108 kgs of waste, demonstrating the power of collective action for a cleaner Bengaluru.

Collaboration with the BBMP and B.CLIP Leaders

As part of the Central Government’s Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 initiative, B.PAC organised multiple clean-up drives across Bengaluru in collaboration with BBMP and B.CLIP civic leaders. Held between 28th September and 2nd October, the initiative aimed to clean and beautify various parts of the city while fostering a strong sense of community ownership and environmental responsibility.

A total of 47 B.CLIP leaders led efforts across 38 locations, undertaking a range of activities including litter removal, debris clearance, and proper waste disposal. The initiative went beyond cleaning to focus on beautification—planting trees, painting walls, and creating murals to enhance the visual appeal of public spaces.

The campaign also witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, who came together with civic leaders to make a tangible impact on their neighborhoods.

Collaboration with GAIL (India) Ltd

As part of the Swachh Bharat initiative, GAIL (India) Ltd. and B.PAC launched the ‘Swachatheye Seve’ campaign, a week-long drive to eliminate black spots across various places in Bengaluru. This initiative promoted holistic awareness about cleanliness, waste management, segregation, and composting.

Key efforts included:

  • Colonel Hill Junction: Cleared unauthorised dumping and illegal parking near the Church of South India Hospital, revamping the area and painting the wall.
  • Hegde Nagar Traffic Training Centre: With BBMP and traffic police support, cleared a major garbage dump caused by improper waste disposal from locals and eateries, addressing health hazards like foul odours and mosquito breeding.
  • Other Black Spot Revamps: Byatarayanapura, Pulakeshinagar, Broadway Road Junction (Shivajinagar), and Hegde Nagar.
