MLA LAD Fund Utilisation

The MLA Local Area Development (LAD) Fund enables an MLA to carry out local level development projects in their constituency. Karnataka was the first state to implement the MLA LAD Fund scheme, which was subsequently adopted by other states. The respective MLA receives a yearly allocation of funds from the Deputy Commissioner in the amount of 2 crores, which is then used to carry out various development projects on local level. The LAD Fund can be effectively utilised to address problems brought on by shortcomings at the local level, guarantee durable local assets and facilities, enhance infrastructure, and maintain transparency with the general public. This initiative seeks to improve relations between the government and citizenry within the area.

Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) compiled and collated the fund utilization report of MLA’s under their Local Area Development Scheme (18-19 TO 22-23). The data was collated for the MLA’s across 27 constituencies in Bengaluru Urban for the fiscal years 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-2023 from Govt sources. The activities undertaken by the MLA’s under LAD scheme were classified as per KLLAD guidelines issued by Govt.
